What is Acupuncture?
Acutherapy offers gentle, individually tailored and effective treatment for a wide range of health problems.
Acupuncture is used alongside other traditional techniques such as moxibustion, cupping and massage.
The focus is on providing maximum benefit with minimum intervention. Treatments are safe, relaxing and restorative.
Symptoms are alleviated and imbalances corrected, promoting your body's ability to heal itself.
Sam offers Japanese Acupuncture, Acupressure massage, Moxibustion and Cupping.
Japanese Acupuncture is excellent for relieving symptoms while correcting the origins of our long-term imbalances. This especially gentle and effective treatment uses superfine needles resulting in a highly relaxing experience for the patient.
With Japanese Acupuncture the abdomen and back are gently palpated to identify areas of muscular tension. Treatment includes any or all of acupuncture, cupping and moxa, release is often felt immediately by the patient. This feedback means patient response can be continually assessed, ensuring that treatment progresses efficiently.
Acupressure Massage Deeply relaxing techniques of Swedish massage are combined with pressure on acupuncture points. Points sought are often tender or chosen for their specific effect. Hands on treatment provides the greatest possible opportunity to work intuitively. This means that treatments are often as effective as when needles are used. Acupressure is excellent for those wanting the benefit of acupuncture without needles, or those wanting a massage treatment that hits the spot.
Moxa has been used in Oriental Medicine for over two thousand years. Burnt on needles, or directly on the skin, for its warming qualities, it has a powerful effect on the body, releasing tension and stimulating healing. Patients often say that Moxa is the most deeply relaxing of the therapies. When Moxa is used to warm acupuncture points on the feet, it produces excellent results in turning breech babies.
Cupping has been used for as long as acupuncture, over two thousand years. Air is removed from cups, which are then placed on the skin creating a pulling action on the tissues beneath. Local circulation is often impaired by the long-term effects of old injuries: cupping is highly effective at invigorating impaired circulation, improving function, alleviating pain and bringing lasting relief.
